JonJones VS Anthony Smith

Jon Jones, probably the greatest talent this sport has ever seen when it is all said and done, meets gatekeeper turned contender Anthony Smith in the Rocky story of 2019 for the light heavyweight belt. With all due respect to Smith, this is a mismatch of the highest order. If Smith pulls this off it will be the biggest upset ever or close to it, only behind Serra knocking out GSP. Jon Jones is absurdly superior in all areas to his opponent here and can end this fight how, where and whenever he feels like doing it. Anthony Smith is an all around decent fighter that mostly rellies on his power to push through. His ground game is serviceable but nothing special, more like average. He has horrible defensive holes and his chin is suspect, to say the least. His career was going nowhere at his former weight of 185 pounds, where he had accommodated in the UFC after starting his career with a 5-6 record. After getting brutally finished by Thiago Santos he took the chance at moving up, stopping two badly faded former champions in Rashad Evans and Shogun Rua. He then submitted relatively untested Volkan Oezdemir, who faded badly after failing to find an early stoppage and showed a horrible grappling game. He still managed to destroy Smith´s lead leg with a few kicks which had Smith walking funny inmediately after the end of the fight. Jon Jones posseses and always improving striking game, he is not a huge puncher but he is extremely cerebral on the feet and his elbows, whether intercepting, spinning or stepping in, are lethal. He comes into this fight after badly outclassing Alexander Gustafsson on the feet, who was widely considered the best boxer in the división. His grappling and ground game is the best in the divison by far and one of the best in the UFC. He notoriously outgrappled olympian Daniel Cormier in their first meeting. This fight is gonna be fought where Jon Jones decides. If he takes Smith down, which he could easily do, the fight is probably over. Either way he probably hurts Smith early on the feet and then proceeds to ground and pound him for the finish.
